A prepared fuse and explosive ready for the blast. Crazy Horse was a visionary leader of the Oglala Sioux and a fierce defender of the values and traditions of the Lakota peoples. Fifty years ago, in tribute to this extraordinary man, Kocrczak Ziolkowski began the colossal task of carving Crazy Horse into the granite stone of South Dakota's Black Hills.  After Korczark's death in 1982, the Ziolkowski family took up his mission - ensuring that this monument to the life and spirit of Crazy Horse will one day reach completion.  .
